Kevin Greenlaw is establishing himself at the forefront of America’s new generation of young baritones. Recent triumphs have included MERCUTIO Roméo et Juliette for The Spoleto Festival, Charleston (USA) conducted by Emmanuel Villaume, GUGLIELMO Così fan tutte for the Festival de Sédières in France, ORESTES Iphigénie en Tauride for Opéra National de Lorraine and the Komische Oper Berlin, and MORALÈS in Bizet’s Carmen both for Ongaku-Juku Opera, Japan, with Seiji Ozawa, as well as the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, conducted by Georges Prêtre. Most recent projects in the UK have included Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and the role of CHORÈBE in Berlioz’s Les Troyens with the Festival Amazonas de Opera, Brazil. In addition he made a critically-acclaimed debut with OCNE Madrid in Bach's Matthäus-Passion, conducted by Paul Goodwin. A busy schedule in 2010 includes appearances as PELLÉAS Pelléas et Mélisande and DANILO in Lehár’s Die Lustige Witwe with Opéra National de Lorraine, FIGARO Il Barbière di Siviglia with Angers-Nantes Opéra, and his London debut as ESCAMILLO in a Raymond Gubbay production of Carmen at the O2 Millenium Dome.

Born in Missouri, he studied at the Eastman School of Music and Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, before winning the Prix d’Association pour le Rayonnement at the Opéra National de Paris, Bastille. He went on to sing the role of TARQUINIUS The Rape of Lucretia at the Britten-Pears School at Aldeburgh, before being catapulted to international attention replacing, at short notice, an indisposed cover for the roles of PELLÉAS and HARLEKIN Ariadne auf Naxos at the Metropolitan Opera New York. Other international credits include KULIGIN Katja Kabanova for the Opéra National de Paris, NED KEENE Peter Grimes for Opéra National de Montpellier, the title roles on both DON GIOVANNI and EUGENE ONEGIN for Theater Dortmund, MARCELLO La Bohème, DANDINI La Cenerentola with the Opera Faber Festival, Portugal, RAMIRO L’Heure Espagnole with the Chorégies d’Orange and DANCAÏRE Carmen with the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples. An already impressive discography includes JUAN in Massenet’s Don Quichotte, conducted by James Conlon for Mezzo TV productions in France.

On the concert platform, he has sung Orff’s Carmina Burana at the Edinburgh Festival, the Snape Proms, and at the Salle Pleyel de Paris, while other concert appearances have included the Al Bustan Festival in Beirut, and performances with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra.
