JANETTE ZILIOLI

American soprano Janette Zilioli is rapidly establishing herself as an exceptional
artist with her talent as a dynamic, engaged singing-actress with shimmer and
brilliance to her voice.
In the 2009/2010 season, Janette Zilioli sings Micaëla in Carmen with Mad Cow
Theatre and sings her first Donna Anna in Don Giovanni at Ash Lawn Opera
Festival. In 2009 she performed at Opera Santa Barbara as Hanna in The Merry
Widow and returned to Orlando Opera to perform Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus. Ms.
Zilioli also recently performed the role of Musetta in La Bohème with Palm Beach
Opera, and Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance
with Central Florida Lyric Opera.
As a resident in the Orlando Opera Young Artist Program, Ms. Zilioli was heard as
Adina in L'Elisir d'Amore, the High Priestess in Aida, Pitti-Sing in the Mikado, and
Blondchen in Die Entführung aus dem Serail. She also sang Countess Ceprano
while covering Gilda in Rigoletto. She has covered the role of Nedda in I Pagliacci
and sung as the soprano soloist in Orff’s Carmina Burana. Ms. Zilioli’s repertoire
includes the title role of Eva Peron in Evita, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte and Magda
in La Rondine.
Ms. Zilioli was a 2001 national semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National
Council Auditions. The same year, she won both 1st place and was the Audience
Choice winner at the Houston Grand Opera's McCollum Competition for Young
Singers. She was the first-prize winner of the Australian Singing Competition and
subsequently invited to sing in the winner’s concert in Tokyo, Japan. Most recently,
Ms. Zilioli was the 3rd place winner in the 2009 Metropolitan National Council
Awards South East Regional Finals. She has been the recipient of two notable
fellowships to the Music Academy of the West, in 2004 and 2008, entitling her to
work and study with Marilyn Horne and Warren Jones.
Janette Zilioli appeared as a guest artist for the Rosa Ponselle Competition Winners'
Concert making her debut at Carnegie Hall at the age of 17. Since then, she has
performed recitals and tours internationally in Reykjavik, Eglisstadir and Eskifjordur,
Iceland, Urbania, Italy, Sydney and Adelaide, Australia and in Tokyo, Japan. She has
been a frequent principal soloist with the Orlando Philharmonic in their performances
of Richard Rodgers Spectacular, Sunset & Symphony and Young People's Concert.
