Anna-Clare Monk studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, where she was awarded a Peter Moores Foundation Scholarship, and at the National Opera Studio on a Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Scholarship.

Anna-Clare Monk’s operatic roles include Gilda Rigoletto, Adina L’elisir d’amore, Pousette Manon, Johanna Sweeney Todd, and Ninetta The Thieving Magpie for Opera North, Gretel Hansel and Gretel, Zerlina Don Giovanni and Susanna Le nozze di Figaro, for Welsh National Opera, First Niece Peter Grimes and Echo Ariadne auf Naxos for Scottish Opera, Suzanne Dr Ox’s Experiment for English National Opera, Marzelline Fidelio, Marie La fille du Regiment, Susanna The Marriage of Figaro, Pamina Die Zauberflöte and Anne Trulove The Rake’s Progress for English Touring Opera, Dorinda Orlando for the Early Opera Company, Asteria Telemaco for the English Bach Festival and Mabel The Pirates of Penzance for the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company.

Her recordings include Love Unspoken with London City Opera. For BBC Radio 3 she has sung roles in The Alchemist (Scott), Send for Mr Plim (Spoliansky) and No Song, No Supper (Storace). Live opera broadcasts include Dr Ox’s Experiment (English National Opera), Ariadne auf Naxos (Scottish Opera) and Manon (Opera North).

Recent performances have included Mimi La Boheme for Castleward Opera, a double bill of a staging of Les Illuminations with Belinda/First Witch Dido & Aeneas at Lugo Festival and at the Teatro C omunale, Bologna, and the role of Noemie in Massenet’s Cendrillon with Chelsea Opera Group at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. Anna-Clare also appeared in the World Premiere of The Opera Show last year.

Anna-Clare Monk
